The First Book

A sequel to Emerson, this is a family story.

As I wrote, I constantly referred to my memories of the horse farm we had and the characters involved. The story developed interwoven with fancies unraveled from my brain.

The characters are modeled after ones that I knew. Many of the events occurring in the book are based on real life events.

An excerpt....

Prologue

Ring...ring...ring went the barn phone at the Loafing Hills horse farm.  Carol quickly dismounted from her horse, Prince Alley Em, tied him to the hitching post and ran to the phone.  "Hello, hello," she cried.

A soft singing voice responded, "Nobody loves me, nobody wants me, I'm going to the garden to eat some worms.  Great big squashy ones, itsy bitsy gooey ones, I'm going to the garden to eat some worms!"

Carol knew immediately that it was her best friend Karen whispering the silly words they sang when feeling low.  They often shared this jingle with each other when one or the other was feeling sorry for herself.  Carol, knowing it was never anything serious, questioned Karen.

"Okay, my friend, what's the problem?"  She queried.

"The problem is," Karen pouted, "I haven't talked to you in over one week!"

"Well,"answered Carol, "let's talk now...I sure don't want you in the garden eating worms this nice morning."  She laughed.

Prince Alley Em, a sequel to Emerson, takes the reader back to Loafing Hills Farm located in the foothills of Sugarloaf Mountain.  Em, as he is called, broke and schooled by Carol, takes you into the exciting horse trials called 'Combined Training Eventing' where he excels in all three events; Dressage, Cross Country and thirdly, Stadium Jumping.  The story takes you into other horse-related aspects, such as polo, horse rescue farms, Circle of Hope riding for handicapped students, Pony Club shows, and even visits to Miniature horse shows and farms. If you have a love for horses, you'll enjoy your visit with the Spencer family entourage at Loafing Hills. The story is based on true experiences and is filled with excitement, fun and adventure.
